Karly Moura- Teaching, Tech, and Twitter
The second blog I picked to do a review on is the blog called Teaching, Tech, and Twitter by Karly Moura. The reason I enjoyed her blog when I first saw it was because of how organized her website is. When you first click on her website, it opens to her most recent blog. I think this is great because you can see that she is actively posting and there is always new things being shown. She also has her Twitter on her profile so you can see all of her tweets without even leaving her page. She has a link to her Google+ profile that has all kinds of posts about technology in the classroom, things to do with the kids, and other helpful articles about teaching. On her side bar where her Twitter and Google+ is linked, she also has all of her blogs easily accessed by month. My favorite part of the organization of her blog is that at the bottom she has "Labels" which has a list of words that you can click on and it will take you to a blog post about it if you want to learn more about it.
My favorite blog that she has is her blog from November 29, 2016. This blog is called "Five totally FREE ways you can ditch that textbook!" I think this is a great blog because the way I work best is from hands on activities and from group discussions and from really being involved and I want to run my classroom in a similar way. I think it's hard for kids to sit and just read straight from a textbook and retain the information because one, it's hard to make something click in your mind when you are just reading it and not applying it and two, it's boring for the kids and they aren't going to want to do it. This blog is ways to get the book Ditch That Textbook, by Matt Miller. I think it is great that she is supporting other authors and teachers and collaborating with them, as well as helping teachers access the book for free because as teachers we are usually on a tight budget.
I think Karly Moura stays up to date on her blog, puts out helpful, interesting content for her readers, and is as helpful as she can be when it comes to helping teachers. She is also big on technology, which is obvious by her blog page, and I think technology is hard for a lot of people to integrate into their classrooms. Many teachers have been teaching from books and with written tests and assignments and now that they are switching over to technology, a lot of teachers need help. Karly Moura is a great resource for people to use.
