There is a lot to learn from Shelly Fryer and her compassion, hard work, and love for being a teacher. Shelly Fryer is a teacher that cares about the kids in her class and their well being first and foremost. She worked at Positive Tomorrows, which is a school for homeless children. This job is not one that just any teacher could do. These kids have not had easy lives and have a lot going on in their lives that can distract them from school such as being tired, hungry, abused, etc. Shelly stepped up and put everything she had into giving these students the opportunity to be as successful as they could be. She is also very good at incorporating technology into the classroom. She has a great YouTube channel that is used in her classroom which is great for her students and their parents. I really enjoyed her "kindness counts by room 108" video. I love how she showed her students ideas of what kindness is. This gives the students a way to show their creativity and what their ideas are and they get to make their page the own. The music was a perfect way to tie the whole video together. I also think that she could have introduced the lesson by playing this song and starting a discussion on what kindness is and why it is important. She then turned it into a lesson with the use of technology, creativity, and the students ideas. Shelly also uses technology in her classroom by using apps such as Dreambox Math, AutoRap, and Seesaw. These apps are all very interactive and get the students involved in their learning. It gives the students a fun way to participate and makes the students excited to learn. It gives the students something to relate to, such as AutoRap using artists that many of these kids listen to. I think Shelly is very involved in her students' lives and she goes above and beyond her title to make sure these students are not only successful in class, but that they are successful out of class as well.
